Memorial Day
Good morning everyone! I know this is really close to the last blog and no it wasn't planned this way. Danielle got all of the pictures from our Memorial Day online, so I thought I would write a quick post and add the link to all of the pictures. You will see that we had a great time. We went to an orchard, met my sister and her family at "The Hill". They have the best burgers and other fast food in Bellville. We visited with everyone for over an hour after we ate. The kids were great waiting on us and they were very tired. We almost took up the whole place. It is a very small place. We left there and came home. The guys baked a peach cobbler and we cooked outside for supper. Preston played in the water sprinkler, got a splinter, got it out and had some cake to make it better. We were really tired, but the kids went to bed early and we made sure we had time for a little canasta. The guys against the girls. For the second time while Michelle, Chris and the boys were here the girls got slaughtered. We will get revenge! Someday. Jay and Danielle went home after that and we all went to bed. The next morning Mike went back to work and Michelle, Chris and the boys loaded up and went home.
You will notice our ducks in the pictures too. They are black-bellied whistling ducks. I just had 5 in the back yard. There was a major feeding going on. The cat of the neighborhood must have been hungry, because I just saw him catch a white-wing dove. I chased him off again. That is the 5th time I have chased the cat off. He got fed and some birds are already back. No pictures of the catch.
Next update will probably be after our family reunion. Should have some great pictures there, too.
Here is the link to the web album. Danielle got some great pictures of everyone!

Hope you guys enjoyed them as much as we do!

Thought I'd never update this, huh?
Hope you enjoy the pictures I have added. These are mostly dedicated to Clint. I started with pretty much newborn and tried to add one per month till now.

This was a try at Clint having a little mohawk like Preston always had.
This could take a while. The first thing that happened after my last update that was almost 6 months ago was the birth of Clint. I figure everyone knows about him, because I have sent out web albums. Our newest little man is so cute. He loves to flirt and it tons of fun to hold and play with. Clint is a very good baby. He does have a temper, but it doesn't show too often.

Midway through February we started traveling from one relative to another for about a month. We went to Lafayette, to Kilgore, to Alice, back to Lafayette, for Preston's birthday, back to Mom's in Alice and we went somewhere else too. I just can't remember where now. Preston's birthday was lots of fun. There were quite a few kids and most of their parents too. Mom gave him a dinosaur and it was the hit of the party. we had fruit pizza and ice cream. We had a great time, but were more than ready to be home for at least a weekend or two. April we stayed home most of the time. Worked around the house and got a lot of things accomplished.
Getting chubby now!
For a while we had a parakeet at the end of April and through almost all of May. We made a trip for 3 1/2 days and it left and has never come back. Those birds really like to have food handy at all times. I found out a few weeks ago that house finches love to eat out of humming bird feeders. It is so funny to watch them get on there and eat. Michelle says hers eat out of her humming bird feeders too. Mike's Mom also says her's do the same thing.
In April we also went to Kilgore for a surprise birthday party for one of our best friends. We have been friends for our entire married lives and a little before that too. Pam was definitely surprised and it was so much fun getting to see all of her family and Rick's family too. A lot of other friends too. After the party we all came back to Mike's parent's house and visited. We had everyone there except for Jon in our families. Hopefully Jon will get to make the next event. Danielle took pictures and got some really great ones. She and Jason made a photo book for her with the pictures and it was really nice.
Preston loved upside down!
Michelle and the boys came for a few days to visit while Chris was very busy with work, the church and school. That was around the first part of April. We all had a good visit. I went back with them to Lafayette, so that I could pick up the little truck. It had been in the shop for a week or so. The night before we left for Lafayette I set out some things for us to have for breakfast. Preston got up before all of us and had put everything I set out in the frig and got out eggs and a few other things I guess he wanted for breakfast. He had it all sitting out on the island. Michelle wanted to know why he didn't try to cook the eggs on the floor like he did at her house instead of just sitting them on the island. It was funny because I woke and heard something down stairs and thought it was Michelle. Michelle heard something down stairs and thought it was Mike getting ready for work. We were both wrong! I came out of my room Michelle came out of hers and we almost ran into each other. Thankfully Preston didn't make a mess at all.
We had a Taplin family reunion in April also. That was the thing I forgot about. Don't know how I could have forgotten it. We had so much fun! Got to see loads of people I have not seen in a long time. Oh the Taplin side of the family is my Dad's side. My cousin Sharon Gail had it at her new home about an hour and a half from us. We got to ride 4 wheelers and had some good food. Had a nice tour of the ranch. Danielle took great pictures there too.

A rare shot of Aunt Dee and Clint and the boys snuggling at
our house.
May has been great too. We got a lot of blinds put up in our house. Makes a big difference in a few places. We got some lawn furniture too. We got a couple of swivel rockers for the deck. I finally found a swing I liked for the deck too. We now can sit 6 people comfortably. Until the last week or two it has been wonderful to sit out on the deck of an evening and watch the birds. We have ducks that come to feed. They are black-bellied whistling ducks. The are very strange looking ducks and the don't quack. They whistle hence the name. The sound like baby birds most of the time. We normally have 2 - 6 of them morning and night. Last week we had up to 13! It was just amazing to see them. Normally it is the white winged dove that are all gathered around the feeders. We had so many ducks that they looked like the dove all gathered around. They mate for life so we normally get an even number, but every now and then we have an odd number. We were out of town last weekend and we are now back down to 2 ducks and they are very leary of any movement. Before we left for the weekend they would come to eat even while we were outside.
One of my favs. Love that smile!
We went to Lafayette for Mother's Day. It was also baby dedication and Clint was dedicated. We had a really nice time visiting with Michelle and her crew and Jon. Jon is so good with the kids. He and Preston really have a good time together.
Growing so fast and still a sweety
Last weekend was Father's Day and we went to Kilgore. We were attending a wedding while we were there too. We had a great weekend. Got to see lots of people we don't normally see and got to have Father's Day with Mike's Dad. When we were almost back in town Jay called and wanted to know if they could stop by. We didn't know it but they came by the day before with a gift for Mike. They bought some meat for us to bbq. When they got here they went to the frig and pulled it all out. Some nice stuff. We unloaded our stuff and started cooking. What was so funny was Michelle and her family got Mike a digital meat thermometer,so the gifts went together well. Jon called and talked for quite a while. It was so nice to hear from him. It is hard to get together with him sometimes between work and school. Now that summer is here it should be easier.
We have a Chisler family reunion coming up on Jon's birthday in July and we plan on going to the lake and having a great time. I am in the middle of getting a grocery list for the menu we got together on Memorial day and getting a note out ot everyone. I want to make sure I have everything on the list. Michelle, Danielle and I made up the menu while watching Preston play in the water sprinkler. We also made him a make shift swimming pool out of our recycle bin. It worked really well. It is now water tight! Not a great thing on rainy days when it is recycle pick up day. Oh well, it worked great for Preston!
Happy Boy!
Well, I think that is about all of the news I have for now. This is as condensed as I could get it. Hopefully it won't take me so long till the next update.
Kind of snug, but too cute!
Hope you enjoyed the pics.
